Florida Hospital Zephyrhills (FHZ) has been awarded the Get With the Guidelines® Heart Failure Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award for implementing specific quality improvement measures as outlined by the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American College of Cardiology.
Hospitals that receive the gold plus award have reached an aggressive goal of treating heart failure or stroke patients with an 85 percent or higher compliance to core standard levels for 24 consecutive months as established by the AHA and the American Stroke Association.
“This is extremely exciting for all of us at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills,” said Gwen Alonso, RN, MSN, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. “Our hospital had the honor of earning the Gold Award in the past, and now we are a notch higher. This is truly a team effort and a lot of credit goes to our Heart Institute staff who have worked very hard to achieve this honor. Our dedication to patient care is everything.”
FHZ’s Heart Institute is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2016. According to Alonso, it’s the only nationally accredited chest pain center with Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in East Pasco and the only hospital in East and Central Pasco that provides comprehensive services including open heart capabilities. The Heart Institute has received recognition for treating coronary intervention, heart failure, chest pain, open heart surgery and electrophysiology, Alonso added.
