DAISY Award Given to Deserving Nurse

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL (February 25, 2016) Kimberly Cicanese, RN, has been presented with the most recent DAISY Award for excellence in nursing by Florida Hospital Zephyrhills (FHZ). Cicanese joined the not-for-profit, faith-based hospital in 2012 and works in surgical services. She was nominated for this award by a patient who stated, "Kim was so pleasant and caring and went above the norm to be sure my friend was relaxed and comfortable. She explained everything and prayed with us. I have never experienced this kind of care."

Patients, their loved ones and visitors can nominate a nurse for a DAISY Award and FHZ leadership vote on the nominations.

During a ceremony, Cicanese was presented with a DAISY Award appreciation certificate for being an "Extraordinary Nurse" and a small sculpture called "A Healer's Touch." The design for the latter originates from the Shona Tribe in Africa.
