Emergency Services

In an emergency, every second counts. At Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, our No Wait ER initiative provides fast, high-quality health care when patients need it most.

Our Emergency Department features 25 state-of-the-art, fully monitored treatment rooms, as well as an extensive team of board-certified physicians, nurses and technicians who provide comprehensive care for chest pain, heart attack, stroke, brain and spinal injuries, minor trauma and major illnesses. We treat more than 34,000 patients a year from infants to geriatrics—everything from minor trauma to life-threatening illnesses. We’re focused on timely assessment and treatment, and our Emergency Department staff is skilled in the age-related needs of our community’s diverse population.

Florida Hospital Zephyrhills has been nationally recognized by the American Heart Association, the American Stroke Association and HealthGrades for excellence in patient care, with a special emphasis on safety and superior patient outcomes. In addition, the Leapfrog Group, which monitors the quality of patient care around the country, recently awarded us an “A” grade for quality and safety.

Chest Pain and Stroke Accredited

We have the only Chest Pain Center in the area, which means we are always ready and able to diagnose and treat cardiac emergencies. All of our physicians and nurses are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and work closely with our Cardiology Department to rapidly identify and effectively treat patients who are having a heart attack.

We also have the only Comprehensive Stroke Center in Pasco County, which means we not only provide prompt emergency attention, we also offer rehabilitation to support the recovery process.

Fast Track Program

Even though not all people who come to our emergency department have life-threatening conditions, they still deserve quick, effective treatment. That’s why we’ve established our Fast Track program, which is unique in Pasco County, to ensure that patients with serious, but non-life threatening conditions, are treated as quickly as possible. With added exam rooms we have streamlined our registration and triage process, which can now take place in as little as two minutes. In addition, we strive to have an emergency physician see all of our patients within minutes of their arrival.
