Women's Gynecology Program

With the latest surgical innovations, we have redefined recovery from gynecologic procedures. Minimally invasive specialists at Winter Park Memorial Hospital are giving women their lives back in a fraction of the time it takes to recover from traditional surgical techniques, with far less pain, scarring and follow up care. The uncompromising quality of our surgical facilities brings skilled surgeons from the most respected surgical groups in the Greater Orlando area to perform both inpatient and outpatient procedures. In fact, Winter Park Memorial Hospital is the first hospital recognized by the American Institute of Minimally Invasive Surgery (AIMIS) as an Academic Center of Excellence.

The newest robotic procedures are performed by our surgical team using the da Vinci® Surgical System, which enhances their capabilities through high-definition 3D vision and a magnified view, while tiny micro-instruments increase precision. Our surgeons perform complex procedures through just a few small openings, as opposed to large incisions required for open surgical approaches. Some of the conditions we can treat with this minimally invasive approach include:

  • Hysterectomy
  • Endometriosis
  • Pelvic pain
  • Cystoscopy
  • Hysteroscopy
  • Ovarian masses
  • Repair of prolapsed and urinary incontinence

Cosmetic Hysterectomy

Winter Park Memorial Hospital offers the Cosmetic Hysterectomy. Developed by Steven McCarus, MD, FACOG, a surgeon at Winter Park Memorial Hospital, the cosmetic hysterectomy is a minimally invasive procedure that uses no sutures or staples and leaves no visible scars. Beyond the elimination of scar tissue, the cosmetic hysterectomy also results in quicker recovery with less pain, less chance of infection and less time in the hospital when compared to open surgeries, and even other minimally invasive techniques.

If you are thinking of having a hysterectomy, ask your doctor if the technique he or she is using will leave you with visible scarring. Or, contact us today to discuss a cosmetic hysterectomy. Nearly three-quarters of hysterectomy patients are candidates for this procedure, making it likely that you could benefit from this latest breakthrough in GYN surgical care.

Find out if you are a candidate for cosmetic hysterectomy and contact us online, or call (407) 303-DOCS (3627).
