Campuses: Home button

The final days and weeks of a person’s life are often difficult, both for the patient and his or her family members. Oftentimes, we try to ignore the subject altogether. However, for patients whose diagnoses are terminal, and for whom medical treatments will not work, the palliative care offered by hospice services can provide medical, emotional and spiritual support to those in the later stages of a life-limiting condition or injury.

Florida Hospital HospiceCare is a nonprofit, faith-based hospital that serves Orange and Osceola counties, including patients who are referred to this hospice facility from Winter Park Memorial Hospital. These hospice services are available to anyone, regardless of age, gender, race, faith, sexual orientation, physical condition or ability to pay. At Florida Hospital HospiceCare, we are dedicated to providing patients in the late stages of disease or injury with the absolute best care possible, in an environment that is both nurturing and compassionate. This care may be provided at the patient’s home, in an alternative home site such as a nursing home or long-term care facility, or at the hospital (where services are often provided while we work to ensure a seamless transition to caring for the patient at his or her home or care facility)—whatever works best for each patient and his or her family members.

Our highly skilled team works closely with both the patient and his or her caregiver. This team includes:

  • Medical directors, who work closely with the patient’s physicians
  • Nurses
  • Hospital aides
  • Social workers and bereavement counselors
  • Chaplains
  • Volunteers
  • Administrative support staff members

Hospice services are designed to benefit those whose life expectancy is less than six months. The treatment is aimed at comfort rather than curing the disease.

Our services are covered by Medicare or Medicaid and private insurance, or can be paid for our of pocket. Because we understand how vital hospice care can be, Florida Hospital HospiceCare will never refuse anyone due to an inability to pay.

If you would like a free, confidential assessment, please give us a call today at (407) 513-5980.
