Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel is committed to providing comprehensive care in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Our outpatient rehabilitation department is located within the 50,000-square-foot Health & Wellness Center on the campus of Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel.
Our team of experienced therapists provide a wide variety of rehabilitation services. We offer outpatient therapy in three main areas:
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Speech Therapy
Our licensed physical therapists are continually trained in the newest, evidence-based techniques from around the world. Because each individual is physically unique, each treatment program is highly personalized and provided through one-on-one sessions. Our treatment plans include hands-on manual therapy techniques such as soft tissue and joint mobilization combined with therapeutic exercises customized for each patient. This plan targets the specific areas of the body that needs strengthening and stabilizing in order to restore function. This combination of manual therapy and custom exercise represents a ground-breaking advance in physical therapy.
Occupational therapy is a skilled treatment to help people achieve independence in all aspects of their daily lives. We customize treatment based on the individual's goals. Our occupational therapists specialize in:
- Hand and upper extremity injuries
- Home and job environment modifications
- Strokes and other neurological disorders
- Training in the use of adaptive equipment
Our speech pathologists specialize in communication disorders as well as swallowing disorders as a result of stroke, brain injury, developmental disorders and many other conditions.
In addition to all general therapy services our highly specialized therapists offer the following sub-specialties:
- Orthopedic and Neurological Disorders
- Sports Rehabilitation
- Work-Related Injuries
- Balance/Vestibular Disorders
- TMJ/TMD (jaw pain)
- Pelvic Floor Therapy*
- Spine Therapy*
- VitalStim Swallowing Therapy*
- Manual Therapy
- Mechanical Diagnosis Therapy
*Spine Therapy - The McKenzie Method, also known as Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy (MDT), involves research-based, active movements and education. A certified McKenzie physical therapist assesses the pain through a series of safe movements, creates a treatment plan to reduce pain and help restore movement, along with providing the educational tools that will help to prevent pain from returning.
*Pelvic Floor Therapy - Conditions that women and men might benefit from this program include: urinary/bowel incontinence, constipation, urinary retention, pelvic pain, prolapse, post surgical/radiation soft tissue pain, prostate cancer, pre or post surgical pelvic floor muscle therapy, and more.
*VitalStim Swallowing Therapy - An FDAapproved, non-invasive external electrical stimulation for treatment of dyspagia (difficulty swallowing). Combining VitalStim with traditional therapy allows clinicians to accelerate strengthening, restore function, and help the brain remap the swallow.
