Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel saw a "steady stream" of patients from the moment it opened for business Monday morning.
"We're absolutely thrilled to be open," Emergency Services Director Bob Ingram said. "It's been an incredibly awesome day."
Ingram said the hospital has changed its process for admitting patients to the emergency room, so there's less waiting and filling out forms. Patients are admitted bedside, and mobile X-ray machines can be used in any of the emergency suites.
"We believe triage is a process, not a place," Ingram said. The new admission process has been smooth, despite a steady stream of ER patients, he said. "We met all of our goals today."
