Christopher E Baker, MD
Biographical Sketch for Christopher E Baker, MD
As a student athlete who had his own share of injuries and medical treatments, Dr. Baker grew up with a strong interest for the field of medicine and healing. Having been an active participant in his own medical care, he clearly sees the value and importance of patient engagement and patient education.
His approach to treating patients consists of ensuring that his patients are fully informed and appropriately educated about their condition and treatment options. He works to ensure that they fully understand the expected outcomes and circumstances surrounding their condition. Dr. Baker’s fellowship research was in the use of in-office ultrasound for diagnosing injuries. This approach to diagnosing a condition is very valuable for patients who have contraindications for MRI (due to pacemakers, foreign metal in their bodies or severe claustrophobia)
He strongly advocates that people should not accept pain as a normal part of aging. Don’t ignore chronic pain. Many times a problem can be treated easily with therapy, injections or surgery. Regular exercise can improve your strength and balance and prevent injuries that occur from weak leg strength and falls. Lifestyle changes and the appropriate degree of athleticism can help to improve your health.
Dr. Baker completed his Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and completed his Fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Reconstruction at the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas, Greenville, SC. He currently serves as the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine doctor for the Tampa Bay Storm. As a strong supporter of his community, he also provides athletic coverage for all sports at Wesley Chapel and Zephyrhills High Schools, including free physicals. Dr. Baker is the proud dad of two young children and enjoys playing golf, football and many outdoor activities.
