Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine

If you’re one of the 5 million Americans with a wound or sore that simply won’t heal —or if that describes someone you love—the Florida Hospital Waterman Wound and Hyperbaric Center is here to help.

Our multidisciplinary team—consisting of experienced health care professionals specializing in general surgery, vascular surgery, podiatry, nursing, diabetes, physical therapy and nutrition—takes you step by step through your diagnosis and treatment, focusing on all aspects of wound care. Our goal is to assist you in the healing process and help prevent the recurrence of these wounds.

This comprehensive approach will help wounds heal in the quickest, most comfortable and cost-effective way possible.

Patients going through treatment for a wound that refuses to heal can be frustrating, time-consuming and expensive. Effective management usually requires a multidisciplinary approach, which is rarely practical for individual physicians.

Our comprehensive outpatient center, however, is designed to work closely with your physician’s existing services while offering an array of specialists. Your referring physician will continue to treat the underlying condition and receive reports from us on your continuing progress. The Florida Hospital Waterman Wound and Hyperbaric Center is the only center in Lake County located on a hospital campus, giving patients access to advanced hospital services.

Florida Hospital Waterman is also equipped with three hyperbaric oxygen chambers. In hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the patient breaths 100 percent oxygen at a pressure greater than the atmosphere, allowing parts of the body that are not getting enough circulation to receive additional oxygen and speed healing. On an outpatient basis, hyperbaric treatments are primarily used for patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, radionecrosis, compromised skin grafts, acute peripheral arterial insufficiency and certain infections.
