The Center for Women and Children wants your birth experience to be as positive and memorable as possible. This is a family event, and we encourage family participation in the labor and birth process. Our maternity care is customized for each family situation, and the Mother Infant Unit offers flexible visiting hours.
The nurses in our Labor and Delivery Unit, nursery and Mother Baby Unit are highly experienced, and love caring for you and your new baby. They’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have about breastfeeding, infant care, immunizations and more.

Breast Care Program
The Breast Care Program team at Florida Hospital Waterman Cancer Institute consists of expert physicians and specially trained oncology nurses who provide our patients compassionate, state-of-the-art care. Our patients have access to clinical trials specific to breast cancer, meaning they are often among the first people anywhere to benefit from emerging treatments.
While we take pride in offering cutting-edge care, we also know that nothing replaces the human touch. Our approach is always intensely personal and individualized, and we include our patients in the treatment process every step of the way. Every patient has access to our cancer care patient navigator, who provides a comprehensive assessment of each patient’s emotional and education needs, provides her with support, and can assist in rapidly scheduling appointments with appropriate physicians. For more information about our cancer care patient navigator, call us today at (352) 253-3036.
Florida Hospital Waterman’s Mammography Center is a FDA-certified facility that offers breast-screening procedures, including ultrasound and low-dose digital mammography with computer-aided detection (CAD). This sophisticated computer program, which is digitally linked to our mammography system, has been shown in studies to increase the accuracy of mammography by up to 20 percent. The technology works by reviewing digitized mammograms and marking areas of suspected abnormalities. The radiologist then reviews these areas again to determine if they need further study.
CAD can enhance the radiologist’s performance by drawing attention to suspicious density changes that may have been overlooked, and it can improve the rate of detection of small breast abnormalities, thus increasing the chance of successful treatment.
