There’s nothing more precious than welcoming a new member of the family, and at Florida Hospital Waterman, we want your birth experience to be as amazing and memorable as it can be. Because birth is a family event, we encourage fathers or supporters to participate in the labor and birth process. We happily individualize our maternity care for each family, and invite siblings and grandparents to visit the newborn and his or her mother. In fact, our Mother Infant Unit has flexible visiting hours to make it easier for family members and loved ones to visit the new arrival. (No children under the age of 14, except for the infant’s siblings, are permitted visiting privileges.)
All areas of our Birth Care Center—Labor and Delivery, the nursery and the Mother Infant Unit—are staffed by highly skilled nurses who love being around new mothers and their infants. They’re happy to answer any questions you may have regarding infant care, breastfeeding, immunizations, safety and postpartum adjustments. All mothers can stay in our comfortable, private rooms, where they can bond with their new baby in a family setting.
Florida Hospital Waterman also puts a premium on safety. A safety sensor travels with each baby at birth and is removed only at discharge. In addition, the Maternal Child Health Unit is closely monitored at all times.
