Screening and Tests for Vestibulitis

Screening for vestibulitis occurs with a pelvic exam, in which a cotton swab is used to locate areas of tenderness. Tests for other conditions associated with vulvar pain may be conducted to rule out, for instance, active infections or skin abnormalities that may be causing the pain. Blood tests may also be taken to test for estrogen, progesterone and testosterone levels, and a biopsy of the affected area may be performed as well.
