Conditions Related to Vaginal Estrogen

Vaginal estrogen is used to replace estrogen in a woman’s body; levels of estrogen

may decline when a woman reaches menopause, which can produce symptoms such as vaginal dryness, itching and burning; painful or difficult urination; or the sudden, urgent need to urinate. One brand of vaginal estrogen called Femring is also used to treat hot flashes associated with menopause, while a vaginal cream called Premarin is used for a condition called kraurosis vulvae, which can lead to vaginal dryness or discomfort in women of all ages.
