Research and Clinical Trials for Tubal Ligation
Sterilization surgeries are growing in popularity due to recent advances in research and clinical trials on tubal ligation. Once a serious condition with many side effects, minimally invasive and noninvasive tubal ligation procedures have reduced the risk of mortality and the costs of the procedure.
Throughout the history of the procedure, rare complications have occurred due to the surgery. Research and clinical trials have helped to eliminate these risks through improved technology and procedures.
While many of these complications have been eliminated, more research and clinical trials are needed to reduce the risk of ovarian nerve/blood supply disruption, irritation, infection and other potential side effects. Scientists also continue to research if there is a connection between ovarian cancer and tubal ligation.
