Trigger Point Injections

Conditions Related to Trigger Point Injections

About 10 percent of the U.S population—23 million people—has one or more chronic disorders of the musculoskeletal system; these disorders are the main cause of disability among working-age adults. Trigger point injections are used to treat the pain symptoms often associated with this condition—and in particular, to treat pain in muscle groups in the arms, legs, lower back and neck, as well as to treat tension headaches and fibromyalgia. In addition, some doctors all used these injections as a treatment for myofascial pain syndrome, though the effectiveness of TPI for this condition is still being studied.
