Testicular biopsy is a diagnostic procedure used to determine if patients suffer from reproductive issues or testicular cancer. During the procedure, a small sample of tissue or semen is extracted for testing. Once the tissue is analyzed, doctors may be able to determine what causes the symptoms.

Two testicular biopsy procedures may be recommended depending on the patient’s symptoms and overall health. During the open testicular biopsy procedure, the doctor or surgeon makes a small incision in the skin and testicle. The incision may be over the scrotum or in the groin. Then a small tissue sample is taken from the testicle. The incisions are then sutured closed.

During needle testicular biopsy, a specialized needle is inserted into the testicle and a small sample is taken. This procedure does not require an incision.

Once the results of the testicular biopsy return, doctors can determine the cause of the symptoms or recommend further testing. Early detection improves the patient’s chances of successful treatment. Request a screening today.
