Epilepsy and Seizure Disorders

The goal of epilepsy treatment is no seizures, no side effects and a positive outlook on life. Without a precise diagnosis, treatment of seizures is really just a matter of chance. Proper treatment requires more than the right choice of an antiepileptic medicine and whether or not to perform epilepsy surgery.  Our epilepsy monitoring, protocols and expertise have been established over 15 years of dedicated patient care, which allows us to provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services to individuals with uncontrolled seizures.

Of the 2.7 million Americans estimated to have some form of epilepsy, approximately 30% do not have adequate seizure control and suffer from refractory epilepsy.  Levels of epilepsy care were developed by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers and are a useful tool for evaluating the appropriateness and quality of specialized epilepsy care.

The experts in our Level 4 Epilepsy Program provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of epilepsy using the most innovative techniques. We provide an interdisciplinary and wide-ranging approach to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with epilepsy. Our team includes a Board Certified Epileptologist, neurologists and neurosurgeons, neurophysiologists, nurse specialists, electroencephalography (EEG) technologists, and other personnel with special training and experience in the treatment of epilepsy.  Our skilled and compassionate physicians have the experience and knowledge to offer a wide range of treatment options from Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS Therapy®) to the Ketogenic Diet. Through a complete epilepsy evaluation, we can formulate a treatment plan, whether medical, surgical, or through use of an implanted stimulator for each patient.
