An estimated 25 million people in America have diabetes. Nearly 80 million more have a condition called pre-diabetes, which is typically a precursor to type 2 diabetes. The Diabetes & Endocrinology Institute (DEI) provides complete medical, educational and support services to people in the Tampa Bay area with this life-threatening disease.
Medical care is provided by board-certified endocrinologists who have several decades worth of experience treating diabetes and endocrine disorders. A strong emphasis on diabetes education is the hallmark of our program, focusing on nutrition and wellness.

Learning to Live Better
The American Diabetes Association recognizes the DEI education service as meeting the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. In fact, ours was the first program in the Tampa Bay region to receive this recommendation.
Our comprehensive diabetes education program, led by our team of certified diabetes educators, teaches patients to manage their diabetes through lifestyle changes as well as the use of medication and devices. Topics covered include diabetes management, pregnancy/gestational diabetes, diabetes therapy, insulin therapies, nutritional counseling, meal planning, exercise consultations and Glucosensor analysis.

- Increasing cellular insulin sensitivity, which can help you reduce insulin dose
- Lowering risk of cardiovascular disease
- Burning calories
- Increasing your metabolism
- Elevating mood and self-esteem
- Lowering stress
The Florida Hospital Tampa Diabetes & Endocrinology Institute offers an exercise program specially designed for patients with diabetes. For more information, call the Diabetes & Endocrinology Institute at (813) 615-7750.
