Conditions Related to Septoplasty for Deviated Septum

Several different health problems caused by a deviated septum lead to surgical intervention. These conditions related to septoplasty include:
  • Problems breathing through the nose
  • Recurrent sinus or nasal infections
  • Uncontrollable nosebleeds
  • A nasal perforation or hole in the cartilage
Drug abuse is another condition related to septoplasty. Inhaling, or snorting substances like cocaine can also cause damage to the septum.
