Protecting patient’ personal information is a top priority of Florida Hospital. On March 28, 2018, a contracted vendor of Florida Hospital began performing routine security updates to the Florida Hospital’s websites. While performing these updates, Florida Hospital was notified on April 2, 2018 that harmful web files called malware were detected on several facility sites, including the floridabariatric.com and fhorthoinstitute.com websites. These harmful files potentially permitted an outside source to view, extract and analyze certain of the data entered onto the website’s web forms. However, there was no evidence found that these files were being accessed.
Florida Hospital made these websites unavailable to users and the site has been upgraded to eliminate any risks involved. Please note that Florida Hospital continually takes steps to reduce the risk of future malware incidents by rebuilding its websites, which will create a more secure environment, aid in reducing the number of potential incidents and provide ongoing monitoring of the websites to potentially prevent the installments of malware.
