Conditions Related to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Patients with polycystic ovarian syndrome have a higher risk of developing some serious related conditions. These related conditions can be caused by PCOS or can intensify symptoms of PCOS.

Patients with PCOS are often at a higher risk of developing metabolic syndrome. This related condition is associated with several metabolic problems including the following:

  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Increase cholesterol, blood pressure and C-reactive protein levels
  • Obesity around the midsection
  • Increased blood clotting factors

Other serious related conditions, such as endometrial cancer, can be caused by irregular menstruation. Treatment and monitoring can decrease your risk of developing cancer
