Placental Abruption

Symptoms and Signs of Placental Abruption

The most common sign of placental abruption is dark-red vaginal bleeding accompanied by pain in the third trimester, and sometimes during labor. However, each woman experiences the symptoms of placental abruption differently, and in some cases these symptoms can resemble other types of medical conditions, so it is imperative for women with these symptoms to consult with their doctor as soon as possible.

Symptoms of placental abruption include:

  • Vaginal bleeding
  • Abdominal pain
  • Uterine contractions that do not relax
  • Thirst
  • Nausea
  • Feeling faint
  • Sensing decreased fetal movement

Again, if you experiencing any of these types of symptoms, please consult your doctor immediately.
