Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome

Screening and Tests for Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome

Tests for ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) may be ordered by the doctor based on the symptoms being experienced. A physical exam will include checking weight and size of the belly. Screening for OHSS may include:

  • An ultrasound of the abdomen and vagina and a chest X-ray to shows the condition of organs and reveal fluid buildup.
  • A complete blood analysis
  • An electrolytes panel checking levels of calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium, chloride and phosphorous
  • A liver function test
  • Measuring the output of urine
