Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine

At Florida Hospital Orlando, we know that caring for and managing wounds can be especially taxing, both for patients and their caregivers. That’s why we’ve established the Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Management Center, which features the largest privately owned multi-place hyperbaric chamber in Florida, along with other state-of-the-art technologies and specialized teams of wound care experts. Our center’s fundamental goal is to provide patients with superior treatment not only for their wounds, but also for the underlying issues that may be causing them.

The Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Management Center treats a variety of conditions, both acute and chronic. From ulcers on the feet and legs caused by diabetes and vascular insufficiencies to more complex wounds such as necrotizing fasciitis and soft tissue radionecrosis.

In our cutting-edge hyperbaric chamber, wounds are treated in an ideal 100-percent-oxygen environment, enabling healing oxygen to circulate through the patient’s tissues and bloodstream. This oxygen-rich blood helps preserve damaged tissue, control infections and promotes healing. During hyperbaric treatment sessions, patients can relax while watching television, listening to music or reading a book, as our team of highly trained nurses, specialists and technicians monitors the treatment.

The team at the Florida Hospital Orlando Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Management Center works closely together to create a treatment plan specific to each patient’s individual needs. This may include ongoing assessments, patient education, localized techniques (including debridement and whirlpool therapy) and hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Throughout the process, your team will meet with you to discuss your options. At Florida Hospital Orlando, we pride ourselves on making the patients the focal point of care, and keeping them informed every step of the way.
