Sports Medicine Program

Florida Hospital Orlando offers a comprehensive program for patients who have suffered sports injuries or are in need of rehabilitation services. Our team specializes in sports injuries of the upper extremities. In fact, Dr. Brian Vickaryous is board certified in orthopedic sports medicine, which ensures that our sports medicine patients receive only the latest, most advanced treatments available.

The Florida Hospital Orlando Sports Management and Rehabilitation Program is designed to address trauma suffered by a person’s musculoskeletal system, including bones, muscles, ligaments and tendons, whether these injuries are caused by sports-related injuries or work, overuse, surgery or other incidents, including automobile accidents, falls, fractures, sprains, dislocations and direct blows to the muscle. These conditions often cause pain and limited movement, which hinder a person’s ability to function normally.

Our rehabilitation specialists work diligently to decrease pain, muscle spasms and swelling through the use of modalities such as soft tissue massage, heat and cold therapy, electrical stimulation and ultrasound. Along with our emphasis on exercise, activity modification counseling, job-simulation retraining and education, these therapy techniques are aimed at helping patients restore their normal function and preventing future injury.

The Florida Hospital Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine Program specializes in:

  • Physical therapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Rehabilitation
  • Athletic training and sports medicine
  • Exercise and wellness
  • Biomechanical evaluation and orthotic fabrication
  • Isokinetic strength testing
  • Total joint replacement rehabilitation
  • Back injury rehabilitation and education
  • Lumbar stabilization program

We offer our patients a number of both inpatient and outpatient services. Our inpatient services include treatments for brain injury, stroke and orthopedic sports injuries, as well as neurological rehabilitation; our outpatient offerings, meanwhile, including rehabilitation treatments for pediatric and pelvic health patients. In addition, our Eden Spa, while also providing services to cancer patients, may also be able to help individuals suffering from lymphedema, or swelling caused by the excess accumulation of lymph fluid.

Furthermore, Florida Hospital offers acute care for sports medicine and rehabilitation patients at each of its eight area facilities, including Florida Hospital Orlando.
