Dance for Parkinson's Disease
The Dance for Parkinson’s classes are modeled off the Dance for PD® program based in Brooklyn, NY. This program offers specialized dance classes that empower people with Parkinson’s disease to explore movement and music in ways that are stimulating and creative. Dance for PD® cultivates relationships among arts, community and PD support programs. The Parkinson’s Outreach Center and Rollins College have collaborated to bring the Dance for PD® model to the Orlando area. Dance instructors are professionally trained with over 30 years of dancing, teaching and choreography experience and have been additionally trained in the Dance for PD® model. The Dance for Parkinson’s classes are held twice a month on the first Thursday and third Thursday at 1:00 pm at the Florida Hospital Seventh-Day Adventist Hospital, 2800 N Orange Ave. Classes offer live musical accompaniment.
