The following breast/women imaging services are offered at FRi Princeton as part of FHO imaging services:

  • Breast MRI: Breast MRI is most often used to supplement, not replace, other breast screening methods such as mammography. It can help doctors develop a more complete assessment of the extent of nature of breast cancer and other breast diseases.
  • Automated breast biopsy: This is a technique in which an ultrasound is used gather breast tissue that is suspected of being cancerous. This tissue is then sent to a lab for analysis.
  • DXA: Dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry is an x-ray in which the density or mass or a material such as bone is measured. Most often DXA is used to diagnose and monitor osteoporosis.
  • Digital mammography (screening and diagnostic): Digital mammography is a scan performed on specialized x-ray machines designed only to image breasts. Digital mammography images are instantly processed by a computer and shown on a monitor. This type of imaging test is especially adept at revealing cancer in women with dense breasts and allowing doctors to gain more information about potential breast cancers.
  • Breast Localization: Guided by an imaging modality such as mammography, ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging, the risks, preparation and procedure for wire localization are basically the same as a biopsy using those three imaging techniques.
  • Breast Biopsy: Performed to collect samples of tissue or cells from a suspicious lump or area in the breast. Image-guided biopsy is recommended for almost all cases of suspected breast cancer and is used to confirm the results of previous tests or when imaging techniques fail to yield decisive results.
  • Breast Ultrasound: Uses high-frequency sound waves (beyond the range of human hearing) and computer processing to create detailed images of soft-tissue structures in the breast. Its exceptional ability to find lumps and distinguish between cancerous tumors and benign cysts makes it particularly valuable in the fight against breast cancer. FRi Princeton is the only Imaging Center in Central Florida to offer the SonoCine Automated Breast Ultrasound technology for women with dense breasts, it decreases by half misses that mammography can have.
