We understand being diagnosed with a high-risk pregnancy can be overwhelming and stressful. One of the unique features of our program is the Care Coordinator, who acts as your health navigator throughout your pregnancy.
The Care Coordinator is a key member of our Comprehensive Fetal Medicine team, providing patients with compassionate, personal attention and support through the treatment process. The Care Coordinator is here to ensure your needs are being met and will accompany you to key appointments, and provide a tour of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to familiarize you with the facility. The Care Coordinator provides the following services and support tailored to your individual needs:
- Connecting you and your family with resources and support services
- Serving as a constant link between you and the health care team, providing you the right help at the right time
- Coordinating care plans designed or recommended by physicians
- Coordinating care among providers
- Scheduling appointments with multiple specialists at Florida Hospital for Women and Florida Hospital for Children
- Answering your questions, explaining information to you and providing support
Our Care Coordinator helps you navigate through the full spectrum of services offered by our Comprehensive Fetal Medicine Program to provide a continuum of care in a comfortable and caring environment. Whether it’s coordinating appointments, assisting with insurance issues, or just a heart-to-heart talk about daily concerns, the Care Coordinator is the advocate who ensures you receive the care you need when you need it. Maternal Fetal Medicine
Our highly skilled maternal fetal team specializes in screening, diagnosing and monitoring pregnancy complications throughout the entire pregnancy. They involve patients in their care every step of the way, working with you and your obstetrician, as well as the pediatric specialists at Florida Hospital for Children, to develop an individualized plan for your pregnancy and delivery that optimizes the health of both you and your baby (or babies).
Obstetrics High-risk Unit
The Obstetrics High Risk Unit is designed to care for women who are experiencing pregnancy complications, medical complications during pregnancy or complications during delivery. To care for your unique needs, our Obstetrics High-risk Unit features 24-hour obstetrics and anesthesia coverage in the comfort of private rooms. The team on the unit will collaborate with the Labor and Delivery and NICU teams to optimize the health of you and your baby. Our highly skilled Maternal Care team includes in-house, experienced Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN) physicians and specially trained nurses. Additional physicians who may see you include a Maternal Fetal Medicine physician (Perinatologist) and Neonatologist. Our interdisciplinary healthcare team will collaborate with the Labor and Delivery and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level III (NICU) teams to deliver care based on national standards to optimize your health and the health of your baby.
Through whole-person and family centered care, our highly skilled team collaborates to meet your specific physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs. As part of this care you may enjoy some of our amenities including DVD’s, games, arts and crafts, and music therapy. You can stay in contact with family and friends with our WiFi Internet connection and our Childbirth Educators will ensure you’re ready for delivery through one-on-one education with you and your family.
Level III NICU
Our Level III NICU, the highest designation, is staffed around the clock by a compassionate and highly skilled team of specialists. Backed by the most advanced technologies and care available, our team has created a legacy of successfully treating premature and sick newborn babies. We have a dedicated team of neonatologists, neonatal nurse practitioners, neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists and pharmacists, supported by specialists from a wide range of medical disciplines.
