At the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, we’re dedicated to making a difference in the life of each patient we serve. We strive to be a leader in cancer care by providing our community with unparalleled cancer expertise and the most advanced treatments available; all within the compassionate, patient-centered atmosphere for which Florida Hospital has become know for over the last 100 years.
We offer one of the most comprehensive cancer programs in all of Florida. For our patients, that means a full range of services, including the latest medical breakthroughs in detection, prevention, treatment and research. In fact, our nationally recognized Clinical Research Center is the largest cancer research program in the community. We participate in more than 100 clinical trials each year, which puts us on the forefront of discovering and improving cancer treatments. We’re affiliated with the National Cancer Institute, the Sarah Cannon Research Institute, the UCLA Community Oncology Research Network and a number of pharmaceutical companies, giving our patients access to drugs that aren’t available to the general public. In fact, we’re one of only 12 cancer centers in the United States to receive the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Clinical Trials Participation Award.
In addition, we treat more newly diagnosed cancer patients than any health care system in the southeastern United States. We’re also accredited as an Advanced Comprehensive Cancer Program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, so our patients can rest assured that they’re in good hands. Our oncology-certified nurses are specially training to help rapidly diagnose and plan treatment for brain and spine, breast, colorectal and gastrointestinal, genitourinary, head and neck, and thoracic cancers.
Highly experienced radiotherapy teams at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute treat more than 2,500 patients per year. They offer some of the most cutting-edge therapies available, including image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery and intensity-modulated radiation therapy. We also feature TrueBeam radiotherapy, which produces three-dimensional images that precisely target tumors in 60 percent less time using 25 percent less of a traditional x-ray dose.
At the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute, we’re committed to holistic health. For this reason, in addition to the medical expertise and advanced technologies, we offer patients access to Eden: The Spa for Image Recovery. Here, patients can find products and services that allow them to manage the physical effects of their cancer treatment in a peaceful, soothing environment.
