Women’s Care Welcomes Nurse Practitioner

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., November 20, 2013 – Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s Women’s Care OB/GYN practice has hired Kathleen Johnson, an advanced registered nurse practitioner (ARNP) and midwife.

As an ARNP, Johnson provides obstetrical care, wellness services and family planning consultations at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s Women’s Care OB/GYN, located at 1200 W. Granada Blvd. in Ormond Beach. In January 2014, the practice will relocate to the fourth floor of the hospital, on the same floor as the BirthCare Center.

“When Women’s Care OB/GYN moves into the hospital’s fourth floor, patients and their babies will have more convenient access to the services available in the BirthCare Center,” said Becky Vernon, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center Director of Women and Children's Services. “This is better for the patients and better for their babies. Here, they will receive a continuity of care with a hospital and program, both already well-known for quality and high service.”

With more than 16 years of experience in women’s health care, Johnson has practiced at various locations throughout Florida and Tennessee and has been a clinical instructor at Brevard Community College. Most recently, she served as a nurse midwife at Schneider Regional Medical Center in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Central Florida and a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Florida.

“Kathleen is a great addition to the practice,” said Kim Rogers, Associate Vice President of HealthCare Partners for Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center. “Her wealth of experience makes her a great asset to our team and we know patients will love her.”

Women’s Care OB/GYN is the obstetrical practice for Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center that provides obstetrical services, including prenatal care, education and consultation; pregnancy nutrition; gestational diabetes management; pregnancy monitoring; obstetrical ultrasound (including 3D and 4D ultrasound); delivery; and postpartum care. Oftentimes, same-day appointments are available.

Four local and highly-respected OB/GYN’s provide care at this practice, including Dr. Meetesh Desai, Dr. Ricardo Larrain, Dr. Ted Robertson, and Dr. Cecille Tapia-Santiago, who is also the Medical Director for hospital’s BirthCare Center. These four physicians at Women’s Care OB/GYN are the same doctors who will care for patients throughout pregnancy, in addition to delivering the babies and providing care within the hospital.

Women’s Care OB/GYN is accepting new patients and most insurance plans and can be reached at (386) 672-0444.
