Pierson Students Donate Funds to Help Fight Breast Cancer Locally

DELAND, Fla., November 30, 2015 – On Nov. 19, T. Dewitt Taylor Middle-High School in Pierson donated nearly $2,000 to Florida Hospital DeLand’s Pink Army campaign, which provides screening mammograms, diagnostic studies and education to local women in need. 
 
For the past seven years, the T. Dewitt Taylor Middle-High School students have raised funds through bake sales, t-shirts sales and other events to benefit help women fight breast cancer at Florida Hospital DeLand and have donated more than $8,000 over the years. 
 
“What an incredible community Taylor High School is!” said Maureen Mercho, Florida Hospital DeLand Foundation executive director. “To see young people work so hard, show such concern and dedication to those in their community that are suffering, and understand at such a young age the power of giving back, is truly astounding.”
