NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., February 5, 2018 – Florida Hospital New Smyrna recognized registered nurse Sherri Myers with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses. Created in 1999, more than 2,400 healthcare facilities in all 50 states, as well as 14 other countries, use the DAISY Award to honor nurses.
Myers works in the emergency department and was nominated for the award by a patient.
“I have been in this ER many times. It was a direct result of drinking. I have not been back here in over a year. Sherri was here for most of my ER visits. She made a comment to me about straightening out my life... what she said had a profound effect on my mind and life,” the patient wrote in his nomination form. “My life now, I have made a 100 percent about-face. I stopped drinking and got a hold of my life as best I could at the time. I now have made my life count for something… What she said has changed my life forever! I owe her many thanks! My life is so much better now. She made me want to be and have a better life.”
