DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., April 24, 2017 – Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center recognized registered nurse Tara Swank with the DAISY award.
The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care provided by nurses. Swank is the first nurse at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center to receive this accolade.
“I have had the honor and pleasure to see Tara firsthand at the bedside caring for some of the sickest people. She genuinely cares about them and gives 110 percent all the time. Tara’s faith and kindness shines through while caring for God’s people like they are a member of the family,” said a colleague in her nomination form. “Tara is respectful to everyone and is always helping someone, making their day a little bit better. I am so happy to know her and work alongside her.”
In recognition of this honor, Swank received an award pin, a tote bag, and a hand-carved stone sculpture of the “Healer’s Touch” by artists of the Shona Tribe in Zimbabwe. Her unit, Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center’s emergency department, also received cinnamon rolls and a DAISY banner to display.
Created in 1999, more than 2,400 healthcare facilities in all 50 states, as well as 14 other countries, use the DAISY Award to honor nurses.
