High school football player thanks the team who helped save his life

It’s the season of giving thanks and reflecting.

Today Sean McNamee, a former patient, came back to Florida Hospital Tampa to visit with the Florida Hospital Tampa medical team who helped save his life. The 16-year old and his family wanted to personally thank the doctors and nurses who cared for him. The Wharton High School football player suffered a head injury before a practice last month. Nine days after the accident, he woke up from a medically induced coma.

Today was a day to celebrate his life and recovery. Sean’s neurosurgeon, Dr. Yoav Ritter, spoke at today’s press conference. “Sean, it’s wonderful to see you here today -walking, talking and doing so well. You are a fighter. Your determination has as much to do with your recovery as our medical care. We are all here today in honor of you and to celebrate your recovery. We are so proud of you,” said Dr. Ritter.
