Florida Hospital Zephyrhills Receives Grant From Eagles

Florida Hospital Zephyrhills proudly announces the receiving of $1,000 to both Diabetes Education and Cardiac Rehabilitation. The grants enable the departments to purchase up-to-date education materials that help people understand how to manage and prevent complications associated with uncontrolled diabetes and purchase specialty equipment to assist in the cardiac rehabilitation of their patients.

“The Fraternal Order of Eagles has been very generous to Florida Hospital Zephyrhills, especially to our Diabetes Education and Cardiac Rehab programs,” said Myriam Parham, RD, CDE, Diabetes Program Coordinator. “Their generosity has been directly responsible for us being able to help more patients.”

Florida Hospital Zephyrhills offers a comprehensive diabetes education program that focuses on empowerment through knowledge and self-management. As the only diabetes education program in the area certified by the American Diabetes Association, we have the tools and skills to help you live your life to the fullest.

The Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills is designed to help patients with heart, lung or vascular disease to improve their health and quality of life. The individually-tailored programs involve medically supervised exercise, with access to programs for smoking cessation, nutrition counseling, psychological counseling and physical and occupational therapy.

As part of the National Fraternal Order of Eagles, the local Dade City chapter does a lot of fundraising for various community organizations in the Zephyrhills area. The Chapter gives grants for research, education, equipment and supplies.
