Florida Hospital Peninsula Rehabilitation Opens Thomas Upchurch Resource Room

ORMOND BEACH, Fla., February 14, 2014 – On February 6, Florida Hospital Peninsula Rehabilitation opened the Thomas Upchurch Resource Room on Florida Hospital Oceanside’s third floor, located at 264 S. Atlantic Ave., Ormond Beach.

In this new, private area, physical and occupational therapists will meet with patients and their loved ones regarding their individual medical conditions, treatment options, and outcomes. With assistance from the experts at Florida Hospital Peninsula Rehabilitation, this room will be used to educate patients on their medical condition as well as provide guidance on how to live with any challenges after being discharged from inpatient rehabilitation.

This space was named in honor of Thomas Upchurch, a resident of Ormond Beach and partner with the law firm of Every, Stack and Upchurch.

“Florida Hospital Peninsula Rehabilitation provides a much needed service in our community and the resource room will go a long way in helping orientate and educate patients and their families on the various services available to them,” said Upchurch. “They do a great job offering comprehensive care plans for their patients and this is just an added amenity to assist their patients in their road to recovery.  I was honored to be able to contribute.”

“This donation is a huge blessing for our patients and their families and is another example of our community partners wanting to elevate the level of health care available locally,” said Trace Pendry, Florida Hospital Memorial Foundation executive director.

Florida Hospital Peninsula Rehabilitation is a licensed, in-patient, comprehensive medical rehabilitation facility accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) with Stroke certification. Not only does the facility specialize in the medical treatment and rehabilitation of stroke patients, but it also cares for patients with multiple trauma injuries, traumatic brain injuries, amputations, neurological disorders, spinal cord injuries and for those recovering from orthopedic surgery.
