Community Invited to Annual Christmas Tree Lighting

The 32nd year tradition at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills (FHZ) continues as it invites the community to its Tree Lighting Celebration on Sunday, December 4, on the campus’s front lawn at 7050 Gall Blvd. The free, family-friendly event will take place rain or shine.

From noon to 3:30 pm, community groups, businesses, families, churches and scout troops will  decorate Christmas trees representing every state in the nation. Additionally, there’s a Canada Tree, International Tree and Support Our Troops Tree, according to Jane Freeman, FHZ Community Relations Manager.

At 3 pm, Santa and his elves will make a surprise entrance and visit with children and give each a small gift. There will also be Bounce Houses from 3 pm to 5 pm on which children can play.

The Christmas program begins at 5:30 pm and runs until about 7 pm culminating with the lighting of the trees and a fireworks show, Freeman said. In addition to performances by the Florida Hospital Zephyrhills Chorale and the East Pasco Adventist Academy’s Bell Choir, an inspirational Christmas message will be delivered by Denise Lay, pastor for the First Presbyterian Church of Zephyrhills. This year’s headline entertainment is the Entertainment Revue comprised of talented female singers and dancers from Tampa Bay. The group will perform a 20-minute medley of popular Christmas songs with costume changes. The Entertainment Revue is noted for producing Broadway stars and American Idol finalists.

Limited seating is available so individuals are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

For those interested in adopting a 2017 tree, sign up begins at noon that day within the Circle of Trees. All trees for Christmas 2016 are adopted, Freeman said.
