450 Join Florida Hospital Foundation and Kiwanis Club for the 20th Annual Holiday Charity Ball

NEW SMYRNA BEACH, Fla., December 9, 2016 — On Nov. 19, Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation and the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Southeast Volusia County hosted the 20th annual Holiday Charity Ball for more than 450 attendees at the Brannon Community Center.

Held on the Saturday before Thanksgiving, the black tie event featured an evening of dinner and dancing, as well as a silent auction.

“The new Brannon Civic Center was a stunning setting for this year’s charity ball, complete with gorgeous river views,” said Sandy Huggard, Holiday Charity Ball chairman and Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation board member. “This event is something we look forward to year after year. It is the perfect way to begin the busy holiday season – celebrating with friends, reflecting on all we are thankful for, and raising funds together to support our community. We are already looking forward to next year’s event!”

The Holiday Charity Ball is a New Smyrna Beach tradition that began in 1996. New Smyrna Beach philanthropist and business owner Kaye Walker planned the first event with the goal to support various local charities.

Approximately $50,000 was raised during this year’s event which will support the Florida Hospital New Smyrna Foundation, as well as the Kiwanis Club Foundation of Southeast Volusia County’s sponsored youth programs.

“This was the second time Kiwanis was involved in the Charity Ball,” said Charlotte Smith, event co-chair and Kiwanis Club President. “This event is a labor of love and we were so moved by the outpouring of support. I know the funds raised by this event will do so much good for our community, benefitting local kids in need, as well as our local healthcare services.”
