The 12th annual Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House Golf Classic Raises More Than $30,000

PALM COAST, Fla., October 22, 2014 – On September 15, 26 teams of golfers teed-up at 12th annual Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House Golf Classic "Home Run for Hospice" at the Hammock Dunes Creek Course in Palm Coast.

With a score of 106 (38 under par), the Kindervision team won, consisting of Ron Boyce, Jeff Sandburg, Doug Sebastian and Don Travis.

The event raised more than $30,000 to benefit the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House, located on the campus of Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast. These funds will be used to support the eight-bed hospice house.

The golf tournament was a shamble, which is slightly different from a scramble. Players all hit their drives and the best drive is chosen, and from that point on, players play their own ball through the green.

“I am honored to be involved in this annual event,” said tournament chairman, Dave Franklin of Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate. “The Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House means a lot to me and my family. It is great to see the continued support from the community and I truly appreciate everyone who is involved in this year’s event.”

The Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House opened in 2007 and is the community’s most comprehensive hospice, offering acute, respite, home health and continuous care. No other hospice in Flagler County offers all four services.

“Florida Hospital Hospice Care provides extraordinary care to our community members.  Having an inpatient facility like the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House is a wonderful asset to our hospital and how we serve our community’s needs,” said Ken Mattison, Florida Hospital Flagler CEO. “Seeing the continued support of the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House is wonderful and a tribute to the Meyer family for all they have done and continue to do.”
