Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center has consistently received the Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®. Awards like this recognize our hospital’s commitment to, and success in, implementing nationally recognized, evidence-based stroke care.
Beyond the crucial care provided by our acute stroke and rapid response team at our Primary Stroke Center, we offer ongoing inpatient support through Peninsula Rehabilitation Center. Staffed with experienced and caring RNs - many of whom have a certification in Critical Care, Peninsula Rehabilitation Center (PRC) is the area’s only Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility with CARF accreditation and special certification for stroke care. Studies have proven that stroke care provided by inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRF) results in better outcomes for post-stroke care when compared to Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF).
Not only is our nurse to patient ratio much more favorable (1 nurse to 6 patients compared to 1 to 30 in a SNF), physicians make daily visits to patients where they receive 24/7 coverage for rehabilitation nursing, telemetry, cardiopulmonary, laboratory and emergency services.
