Biographical Sketch for Winslade A. Bowen, MD
Dr. Bowen is board-certified in pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine, in addition to being a certified Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) provider. Originally from Kingston, Jamaica, Dr. Bowen completed his undergraduate studies as well as medical school at the University of the West Indies. He then performed his residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in neonatology at Cornell Medical Center in New York.
Prior to joining the BirthCare Center and HealthCare Partners medical staff at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Bowen spent more than 20 years as a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) physician at Florida Hospital Altamonte, Florida Hospital Orlando and Winter Park Memorial Hospital. His most recent position at Florida Hospital Orlando – a Level III NICU– has given him a wealth of knowledge and expertise in caring for critical babies.
A member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as its sub-board for neonatal-perinatal medicine, Dr. Bowen has published works on pediatric pulmonology and ventilation for pre-term infants. He was recognized twice as Neonatologist of the Year by Florida Hospital Orlando.
Married with two children, Dr. Bowen is an avid tennis player and a board member for Brothers Keeper International, a non-profit organization dedicated to fighting and assisting those impacted by malaria in Ghana.
