Education Classes

Diabetes education classes are offered as group classes or on an individual basis. Group class options are listed below. If you are interested in a one-on-one program with our diabetes educators, call the Diabetes Center at (386) 231-3178 to make an appointment.

A physician referral is required for diabetes education classes. Some insurance carriers include diabetes education as a benefit in the plan. Please contact your insurance provider to confirm coverage prior to attending. Out-of-pocket fees, co-pays or self-pay are due at time of service. Please contact the Diabetes Center at (386) 231-3178 for questions or clarification.

Three-Week Series

Our three-week educational series is designed to help you learn tips on the daily management of diabetes and the prevention of complications. Topics include:

  • Planning meals
  • Managing medications
  • Starting an exercise program
  • Monitoring blood glucose levels
  • Making lifestyle changes
  • Coping with diabetes
The following classes will be held at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Join us in the Center for Health & Wellness, Suite 100, of the Medical Office Building at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, located at 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach. One-Day Course

When the three-week series doesn’t work for your schedule, this is a one-day course that teaches patients with diabetes about the daily management of diabetes and the prevention of complications.

Our one-day course includes lunch and is held twice a month - once on a Tuesday and once on a Friday - from 8 am to 4:30 pm. The full list of 2014 one-day courses is below:

Support Group

The Diabetes Support Group is free, open to the public and is designed for those who have diabetes and their caregivers. Led by one of our diabetes educators, topics include nutrition, medications, new monitoring devices, research updates and the emotional aspects of diabetes.

This group meets once a month (except for July and August) with available locations at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach and at Florida Hospital Flagler in Palm Coast:

  • Second Thursday of the month from 10 to 11 a.m. in the Center for Health & Wellness, Suite 100, of the Medical Office Building at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, located at 305 Memorial Medical Parkway, Daytona Beach.
  • First Thursday of the month (except July and August) from 9 to 10 am in Classroom A at Florida Hospital Flagler, located at 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, Palm Coast.
