Pastoral Care at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center
As a faith-based health care provider, we understand the important relationship between spiritual and physical health, and we know that a hospital stay can be an anxious and lonely time, so we’re focused on providing a holistic environment that nurtures mind, body and spirit. We invite our patients, their family members and our employees to visit our chapels, which are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week at both our Memorial Medical Center and Oceanside campuses. The chapels are non-denominational and open to people of all faiths and creeds who are in need of spiritual strength in trying times.
If you are in need of support, we invite you to reach out to our pastoral care team. Our chaplains are available 24 hours a day to minister to your emotional and spiritual needs. In addition, our pastoral care department will assist you in contacting the minister, priest, rabbi or other spiritual advisor of your choice. To arrange for a chaplain visit for you or your loved one, simply call the hospital operator at (386) 231-6000 and ask for the chaplain on call to be paged, or call our pastoral care department at (386) 231-3044.
Our focus on this spiritual dimension is what makes our care giving “pastoral,” and we encourage our staff and team members to join our chaplains in ministering to all of our patients’ and visitors’ needs.
Chapel Hours and Locations
Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center and Florida Hospital Oceanside both provide non-denominational chapels for our patients, guests and staff members. These chapels are open 24 hours a day and open to visitors of all faiths—or no faith—who would like a serene setting in which to pray or meditate.
Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center offers two chapels and three prayer rooms. We have chapels located on the first floor, by the café; on the fifth floor, across from the waiting area; and in the Comprehensive Care Center, behind the waterfall in the main lobby area. Our prayer rooms can be found by the nurses’ station in the emergency department; on the second floor, by the waiting area in the surgical services department; and on the third floor, by the waiting area in the cardiovascular unit.
Florida Hospital Oceanside’s chapel is located on the first floor, next to the emergency room.
If you have trouble locating any of the facilities, please ask a staff member for directions.
Employees in our Spiritual Ambassador program are happy to pray with or for our patients and employees. Simply let a staff member know you would like to be prayed for or with, and he or she will contact an ambassador. Both of you will be blessed by the experience.
