Lung Node Cancer

Screening and Tests for Lung Nodules

Lung nodules appear as round white shadows within lung tissue on an X-ray or CT scan. They are not usually cancerous, but the larger they are, the more chance they have of being malignant.

Past X-rays and CT scans may be examined to determine of the spots have changed shape, altered in appearance or grown larger. If nodules are present or appear to have gone through any changes, further tests such as a bronchoscopy or detailed PET may be recommended, along with a biopsy to test tissue for cancer cells.
