Kidney Stone Center

Opened in 1985, the Florida Hospital Kidney Stone Center was the first treatment center of its kind to use ultrasound energy to break up kidney stones. Since then the center has expanded to provide a range of urological care services to Central Florida residents and visitors.

Today, we treat many forms of urological disorders, including:

  • Bladder cancer
  • Kidney cancer
  • Prostate cancer
  • Testicular cancer
  • Incontinence
  • Infertility
  • UPJ obstruction
  • Urethral stricture
  • Hypospadias
  • Undescended testicle
  • Vesicoureteral reflux
  • Peyronie’s disease
  • Elevated PSA test
  • Enlarged prostate
  • Scrotal disorders

  • Bladder infections
  • Kidney infections
  • Prostate infection

As anyone who has had a stone can tell you, the condition is very painful. Our goal in treating stones is to minimize the pain while eliminating the stones. Usually this can be done through a non-invasive procedure. Once a stone is located by ultrasound or X-rays, a Lithotipter is used to deliver a shock wave through the body. The waves pass harmlessly through normal tissue but breaks the stones into small pieces so they can be passed through the urinary system more easily.

The Florida Hospital Kidney Stone Center takes great pride in providing the most advanced treatments and best quality care in the region. The center is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
