Intensity-modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)

Research and Clinical Trials for Intensity-Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT)

As a recently developed procedure for delivering radiation, research and clinical trials on intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) are ongoing. Researchers continue to test the long-term safety and the side effects caused by the larger number of beams. Some of these side effects may include the increased risk of developing a second type of cancer caused by radiation exposure.

Also, IMRT research studies the effectiveness of this procedure compared to other radiation therapy procedures. With more information, doctors and researchers can develop better technology and procedures to treat patients more effectively and with better safety precautions.

Florida Hospital Cancer Institute researches cancer treatments and care to improve our ability to treat patients. See our currently enrolling studies for more information.
