Conditions Related to Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator

An ICD is used to treat dilated cardiomyopathy and may be implanted in people who have suffered sudden cardiac arrest or who are at risk of experiencing sudden cardiac arrest. Other conditions related to an ICD include:

  • Ventricular arrhythmia that leads to fainting
  • Some genetic heart conditions
  • Ventricular fibrillation
  • Ventricular tachycardia
  • Heart failure
  • Family history of sudden cardiac arrest
