Hormonal Contraceptives

Conditions Related to Hormonal Contraceptives

Hormonal contraceptives are primarily taken to prevent pregnancy. However, in some cases hormonal contraceptives, usually combination oral contraceptives, may also be used to treat or reduce the risk of other conditions, including endometriosis, acne and other skin problems, menstrual regulation (i.e., lighter periods), PMS relief and polycystic ovarian syndrome relief (a hormonal disorder characterized by irregular cycles, excessive hair growth and acne).
