Heel Fractures

Symptoms and Signs of Heel Fractures

Common symptoms of heel fractures include heel pain, swelling of the foot, bruising or the foot, an inability to walk or put weight on the heel, and heel deformity. With minor heel fractures, the pain may not be sufficient to prevent walking, though it may cause a limp. If the heel bone becomes deformed following an injury, patients may still be able to walk, though the foot and ankle will likely feel unstable and the individual’s gait may change.
