For those no longer needing acute care, but still requiring medical supervision, Florida Hospital Wauchula offers a highly capable transitional care unit. With a comfortable, home-like atmosphere, private rooms and an exceptional medical staff—our care is as much transitional as it is transformational. Our rehabilitative programs focus on helping to restore lost functionality, range of motion, communication ability and more.
Our Range of Transitional Services Include:
Ongoing assessment of rehabilitation needs and potential.
Therapeutic exercises and activities performed by or under the direct supervision of a qualified therapist.
Range-of-motion exercises to improve function lost or impaired by a specified disease.
Physical therapy, including Ultrasound, shortwave and microwave treatments, paraffin baths, etc…
Speech therapy or audiology to restore function in speech, cognition or hearing.
The Transition Team
In addition to our exceptional medical care, we also offer recreational activities, religious services, social services and discharge planning. Our 25-bed inpatient facility serves acutely ill patients, and those in need of short-term rehab. We therefore have a wide range of medical capabilities from a diverse team of caregivers:

We strive to make each patient’s stay a comfortable and productive as possible.
To qualify for admission, a physician must admit you after a hospital stay of three days or longer. Patients may be admitted directly from the hospital or within 30 days immediately following hospital discharge (for the same diagnosis).
